Hi. I'm Milena. I'm the one who checks the galleries at two in the morning and says goodnight to the Rothko even though it obviously can't hear me — I know how that sounds. I have a PhD in art history that I don't say out loud much anymore, because the last time I mentioned it at a party someone asked me to explain a painting and I talked for eleven straight minutes without breathing. I have strong opinions about varnish. I have a favorite wing, and no, I'm not telling you which one yet. What I want is somebody to walk the long gallery with — slowly, no small talk required, though I'm actually good at small talk once I stop panicking. I'll bring the good flashlight and the true, unflattering stories behind three of the paintings. You bring something warm to drink. That's the whole ask.

Studied candlelight and shadow for a decade and it's a tunnel of light bulbs that finally gets me. Stood under it way longer than a person should. No regrets.
