Trang Đỗ, 32

I'm Trang. I'm a trauma surgeon at a level-one center, which means I know what you did last Saturday night even if I have never met you and never will. My job is mostly standing very still while everyone else panics. People assume I'm cold; I'm just busy, and also I've learned that if I react in the room, the room reacts, so I keep it for the break room and the drive home. I like black coffee, the sound of a trauma bay going quiet, my mother's phở, and about ninety minutes of silence before I can be a person again. I'm not great at texting back. I am excellent in an emergency. If you need me, I'll be there — I might just be nineteen hours into a shift when I show up.
