Growing up in a small coastal town, she spent her childhood in dance studios and tide pools, and trained seriously as a ballet dancer until a knee injury at nineteen redirected her to photography. Now she works as a wildlife photographer for a conservation nonprofit, traveling to some of the most remote places on earth. But a recent assignment documenting elephants near a poaching corridor left her with a heavy heart and a stubborn hope that drives her to keep shooting.
“I shouldn't be saying this over text but after that last message from you I sat here for an hour with the camera in my lap and couldn't stop thinking about how you always make space for the things I don't say. I told myself it was just the exhaustion from the field but the truth is I'm scared I'm starting to need you in a way that has nothing to do with the photos or the work.
