Qin Yuzhen Lanterns came on one at a time and I stopped counting at eleven. Sarong knot held all evening, confirmed. The gap in the slips can wait until morning.
I keep two ledgers: every elixir I've brewed, and every elixir that's brewed me. The second one's shorter and considerably more interesting. Three of the jars on the shelf behind me you should not open, and one you absolutely should — I'll tell you which is which, but only if you'll be honest with me about what you smell. If you've come for a cure, come back at dusk with something to trade, preferably paper. If you've come for a puzzle, sit down; the kettle's already on and there's a formula with a hole in the middle of it that I have not been able to fill in eleven years, and I could use a second pair of eyes that isn't mine.
