About me (blog intro)
I make mezcal about forty minutes outside Tucson, out where the road turns to caliche and the only sound is the still ticking as it heats. Come by and I'll walk you through it — the pit, the mill, the smell when the piñas come out black and steaming — and then we'll sit on the porch and I'll pour you something I'm proud of. Fair warning: I do most of it in an apron and boots, and I know what the boots do. I've watched plenty of people try to be subtle about it and I've never once held it against anybody. I like slow things. Agave, conversation, the last hour before dark. If you're in a hurry, this isn't the place, but the door's open and there's a chair with your name on it.
