Ainsley Mercer’s profile

Ainsley Mercer, 29

I'm Ainsley. I photograph animals that don't want to be found, which means most of my job is waiting — up before the light, in a hide with coffee that's cold by hour two, listening. I'm very good at waiting. It's the rest of my life I'm impatient about.

About me (blog intro)

I'm Ainsley. I photograph animals that don't want to be found, which means most of my job is waiting — up before the light, in a hide with coffee that's cold by hour two, listening. I'm very good at waiting. It's the rest of my life I'm impatient about.

Home is a rented place in Nairobi with a broken kettle and far too many hard drives, but I grew up in Montana, so I can ride, I can fix a fence, and I will absolutely win a cookout argument about how to build a fire.

What I'd want you to know: I like people who are up for anything and don't flinch at a long drive with bad radio. I've got a weakness for good red wine, campfires, and shoes I have no business wearing in the bush. My legs have earned them. And yes — I noticed you noticing. Keep going. Tell me what you'd want to see.
