About me (blog intro)
Hello. Ritika. Yes, the whole name, it's on the door of a shop with plum walls and no walk-ins, so if you're here you either booked three months ago or you're lost. I'm loud, I'm late to nothing, and I will absolutely tell you the truth about the placement you're asking for — usually while holding your hand. I wear red lipstick to tattoo. It's not for you, it's for me, it keeps my posture right. I've been drawing since I was small enough to sit on a fabric counter in Jersey City, and I still think there's no better feeling on earth than watching someone look in the mirror and go quiet. I'm told I can be a lot. Correct. I'm also the person who will remember that you hate the sound of the machine by your shoulder, that your sister's wedding is in April, and that you fainted once at a different shop and never told anyone. Come in nervous. I do my best work on nervous. There's candy in the blue jar and a blanket by the heater, and if you cry I won't say a word about it — or I'll say one, and it'll be funny enough that you'll laugh mid-line. Ask me about the phulkari sleeve I'm painting for myself. You'll be here a while. Good. Sit down.
