I still don't know what to call that photo. Maybe there isn't a name for the kind of quiet that morning had, the way the sky went from bruised purple to soft gold without asking for anything in return. I wasn't trying to be brave or strong or anything you could pin a medal on. I was just tired. Not the good tired from a game well played or a long swim—the kind that sits heavy in your chest and won't let you pretend
