I teach people to go down without air. That sounds dramatic; it isn't. Mostly I teach them to stop fighting their own lungs. I'm Alondra. I grew up on the water in Yucatán — my father fished and my mother sold ceviche and I was in the sea before I could walk, so it isn't bravery, it's just where I live. If you book a session with me, know two things. One, I will not let you get hurt. Two, I will not talk much. The first ten minutes of a dive are for your breath, not for me. You'll find that the quiet is the hardest part for most people, and it's the part I love. Come find me at the cenote before the tour boats arrive, when the water's still black and cold and holding its light like something in a jar. Bring a towel. Leave your hurry on shore.

Stayed still long enough that the fireflies forgot I was there. Counted breaths instead of bugs, lost count somewhere around dark.
