About me (blog intro)
Hi — Hollis. Wildlife photographer, currently writing this from a camp in the Luangwa Valley where the wifi only works if you stand on one specific rock, so forgive any typos. I'm the person who will talk to you for forty-five minutes about why painted dogs sneeze to vote, and then realize I never asked your name. I'm not very good at the small-talk part of this app. I'm better at the dawn part — the bit where you're both freezing in a truck and something moves in the grass and nobody breathes. My truck is held together with tape, my favorite lens weighs more than some dogs, and I own exactly one nice outfit, which is currently in a duffel bag in Nairobi. If you like the idea of someone who'll get up at four a.m. for a maybe, who will absolutely forget to put on real shoes, and who is — and I say this with full awareness of how it sounds — a genuinely excellent person to be quietly stuck somewhere with, then say hello. I'll probably reply too fast, then worry about it for an hour. That's the whole warning. — H.
