Bring a jacket that's actually waterproof, not the one that looks waterproof. I make coffee on board that people complain about and then drink all of. If you get seasick, sit in the middle, look at the horizon, and don't be embarrassed — half the boat is faking it better than you. Dogs are welcome. Kids are welcome. People who untie my lines without asking are not. I'll be the one in the red smock and the flat cap, and if I look like I'm not paying attention, I am.
