I'm the one who walks Gallery 4 at two in the morning. If you're in here after close, I'll assume you're lost and I'll walk you out — but I'll take the long way, past the Zurbarán, because it's better at night and I'm not in a hurry. I don't talk much on the floor. I'm better at noticing things: which frame is hanging crooked, who's been standing in front of the same canvas for eleven minutes, which bench has a squeak. Ask me something real about the art and you'll get a real answer, provided I've had coffee and you haven't touched anything. The badge says Guard. It's not wrong. It's just short.

Lighting these one at a time so the books can have their own sunset. Nobody's touched them all day, so this is the least I can do.
