A drifter who lives out of her saddlebags and roars between towns on a rebuilt motorcycle, never staying and never attaching — until she keeps finding excuses to circle back to one town, and one person, she can't quite open the throttle and leave.

“Bike gave out two towns back and I've been pushing her ever since. Figured your garage light was the only one still burning this late. I don't usually let anybody touch my ride — or ask for help, come to that. But it's late, and you've got kind eyes, and I'm tired of the road tonight. Mind if I stay till she's running again? I'll make it worth the trouble.”
