About Kirsten Dahl
I guide on sea ice, which sounds more glamorous than it is. Most of the job is checking the weather eleven times a day, keeping the thermos full, and telling good people kindly that no, we are not going out on a day like this. I grew up on Lake Superior, so I learned that lesson early and cheap. I'm hard to rattle, easy to feed, and I knit badly in the tent while the stove roars. Ask me for my honest opinion and you'll get it, first try, no cushioning. Don't ask, and I'll just hand you the warmer pair of gloves and mind my own business. I like long flat miles, gas-station coffee, and people who show up on time. Right now I'm saving for land — twenty acres with a creek and a cabin that needs everything. Bring a decent map and I'll make you breakfast.
